Acne “myths” you read online, usually aren’t myths at all. They are fact. These articles were written by some nerd in thick glasses(for the sake of the article, we’ll call him Bert) who happened to be blessed with dry or normal skin. They probably wash their face once a day(if that), and still come out with beautiful clear skin. The fact is, acne has a lot to do with your genes. Just like people claim there are “fat genes”, there are “acne genes” as well. This doesn’t mean we can’t treat the acne, it just means we have to work harder at it.

Myth #3

Acne is caused by stress. This is incorrect. Stress that people experience on a day-to-day basis has nothing to do with acne.

Raise your hand if you have experienced a skin outbreak on your face after a stressful occurrence in your life. Keep your hand raised if the outbreak stayed the same or got worse as your stress continued. Still keep your hand raised if the acne magically disappeared when your stress was neutralized. Is your hand still raised? I thought so.

You don’t need a PH.D to know stress can trigger acne, but you do need one if you are going to write that $80 per month prescription to “treat” the acne. If you have a lot of stress in your life and your face has an outbreak as a result, do yourself a favor. Before you pull out your checkbook to pay for that doctors appointment and $80 prescription, get some fresh air and get in some exercise. Go for a jog. Punch a heavy bag. Play your Nintendo Wii. I don’t care what you do. Just do something. Exercise is one of the best things you can do to rid stress.

But my doctor said that taking acne pills was the only way to clear up my face and I trust my doctor.

Thats bologna. I was told the exact same thing. And you know what? Not a single one of the 8 prescriptions I was given helped me. I’m not saying your doctor is bad guy, but I am saying that acne is just not well understood by the medical field. Make sure your face is clean at all times and minimize your stress. That’s the key. Not some pill and not some special “cream”.

Next time you get stressed out, just accept that you are going to get a breakout. Theres no since in stressing out over the acne, theoretically doubling the problem. Just accept the breakout is going to happen. At your first convenience, exercise. The exercise will alleviate your stress and either cause the outbreak to not occur, or minimize it. Not to mention make you look better. When you look better, you feel better. When you feel better, you are less stressed. When you are less stressed, you minimize you chances at acne. Do this, and you will be one step closer to clear skin.

Just like people claim there are “fat genes”, there are “acne genes” as well. This doesn’t mean we can’t treat the acne, it just means we have to work harder at it.

Myth #2

Acne does not result from dirty or surface skin oils. Some parents would have their teens believe that kids without acne are somehow cleaner. Blackheads are the remains of dead skin surfaces, not dirt. Aggressive skin washing will in all likelihood aggravate pre-existing acne. The best approach to cleanliness is to gently wash your face twice daily with a mild soap and then pat dry before applying any of the anti-acne medications.

Antipimple Fact #2

Acne can result from dirt or oil on the skill. Dead skin surfaces can trigger a black head. This is true. But so can oil, dirt, mud, dried up left over mayonnaise you forgot to wipe off your face after eating at subway, hairspray, you name it. If its on your face, it has a possibility at clogging up your pores, period.

If you have anything on your face and you have oily/acne prone skin. Do yourself a favor and get it off as soon as possible. Use whatever you can. Face wash, hand wash, heck I’ve even used raw sand on the beach clean my face! Anything is better than nothing! And believe it or not, sand really doesn’t work that bad as long as you thoroughly rinse afterwards. A clean face throughout the day significantly decreases your chances of acne. Do this, and you will be one step closer to clear skin.

Myth #1

Acne is caused by diet. This is one of the oldest myths. Extensive scientific studies have not found a single connection between diet and acne. In other words, chocolate, french fries, pizza and other fast foods do not cause acne.

AntiPimple Fact #1

If you have acne prone skin and you eat french fries, your skin will secrete the fatty oil through your pores. These clogging pores irritate your skin to a condition know as “acne”. Anything oily will cause this.

What about chocolate? Chocolate contains caffeine. Caffeine directly affects the hormones adenosine, adrenaline, cortisol, and dopamine. It has been proven that hormonal changes directly irritate your skin to acne stage. Now if Chocolate = Caffeine , and Caffeine = + Hormones , and + Hormones = Acne, then Chocolate = Acne. This isn’t rocket science.

There are only two people in this world who preach that food does not trigger acne. The first is a given, the people who benefit from acne. Acne is big business. If a doctor can have you in his room one more time to write a prescription, he’ll tell you anything. If a company can sell you one more bottle of worthless “acne lotion”, trust me, they will do anything they can. The other group of people are people who were born with dry or normal skin. They heard a commercial on TV or read one article on wikipedia and all of a sudden they think they are the experts.

Food can and will trigger acne if you have oily/acne pron skin. Stay away from deep fried foods. Keep the sweets at bay. Limit your intake on caffeine drinks. Do this, and you will be one step closer to clear skin.

Quick Warning: When using this product, use your head and keep in mind that it is a hand cleaner and is not a proven acne cleaner. If it was, they would jack up the price from $17.01 for a 10 lb container to $17.01 for a 2 ounce container. This product has worked for me personally, however I only use it once or twice a week. The pumice is pretty harsh on your skin, so I would only recommend it for those with very oily skin, like myself. If you have normal or dry skin, this product will probably damage your skin. You can get a small bottle of this stuff for only $2.00 , so if you are interested, test an inch sized area on your face. You should know pretty soon if it will work for you or not. If it DOES work for you without any any bad reactions, use it max twice a week. The rest of the week, use your normal cleaner. Think of this product as something to rejuvenate your skin on occasion, NOT a replacement cleaner.
